The look-ahead menu

Posted

Hi.

Tonight I tested the Look Ahead menu in the Interpretation inspector.

- I set a progression of four m7 chords chromatically descending: Cm7/Bm7/Bbm7/Am7;
- then I played a simple, slow arpeggio figure in 1/8 values;

Without Look Ahead

the notation output corresponds to a standard m7 arpeggio:

Setting the Look Ahead option to 1/8

the notation output shows a chromatically raised pitch on beat 4/subdivision 2 of each bar, to better connect the m7 arpeggios at each key change:

Notice that the very last note of each measure corresponds to the first note of the following bar but one octave above. i.e., Synfire introduces an artifical "common note" to seamlessly connect two otherwise far arpeggios.

With higher Look Ahead values, the "common" notes between the m7 chords anticipate, and the transition occurs more and more earlier.
