Uninstalling The Software Manually

If for any reason you are unable to run and complete a downloaded installer (SETUP), or want to make sure the software and all its components are removed, please follow these instructions.

Mac OS X

Versions 2.5 of Harmony Navigator (and later) and versions 1.5.2 of Synfire Pro (and later) store your customized files in your user documents directory, where they are protected against being uninstalled or replaced by a new installation.

For versions earlier than the above, please make a backup of your customized files (patterns, layouts, tunings, progressions, etc). These are kept in a folder named Config that you will find in /Library/Application Support/ in a subfolder named after the product's name (e.g. Harmony Navigator 2, or Synfire Pro). Simply put a copy of that folder aside. You can restore it later in case you need to reinstall the software.

On Lion 10.7 and later, the /Library folder on your startup volume is hidden. In order to navigate to /Library/Application Support, please use the Finder's menu Go >> Go to Folder and enter "/Library" (including the leading slash), then navigate to "Application Support" and the desired folder inside. Be sure you do not confuse this with the Library folder in your user's home directory! Find the one at the top of your startup volume.

  1. Delete the program icon found in /Applications
  2. Delete the alias in /Applications/Utilities (if present)
  3. Delete /Library/Application Support/Harmony Navigator 2 (or Synfire Pro, see important notice above)
  4. Delete files belonging to the product in /Library/Application Support/Cognitone/Setup (if present)

Synfire Users also delete the Audio Engine:

  1. Audio Engine apps in /Library/Application Support/Cognitone (Engine/64, Scanner/64, Resources)
  2. Delete /Library/Application Support/Propellerhead Software/ReWire/Transport.bundle

That's it. Now you can reinstall.
