HN2 from 8 tracks to 16 tracks..better composing..even more than 16 instruments

Posted

A idea what i had for a long time to ask for more tracks:  16 tracks for HN2
It is triggered again the idea by the music made by HN2

I a think of music roles a particular instrument can have in a arrangmert.
Take the violins they can play a melody, countermelody , background melody and ornamental figures
So with 16 instruments there is a richer arrangement possible.
Well still better is 32 tracks or 64  tracks why not use this in HN2 ?

I think the idea of HN2 is to create/modify/experiment with chords structures, create accompianments you can add to your DAW.  As you start moving into more tracks, you are heading into the land of Synfire Pro.  HN2 is a very stripped down version of Synfire Pro.  (but still powerful and usefull).

I bought HN2 first played with it a couple of weeks was very intrigued, but confused by many issues,  I then downloaded Synfire Pro, and realized this was really what I wanted to use.  In soe ways it seems easier to understand then HN2.  There are certainly a lot more commands.

I think Andres marketing idea, is good.  For some people HN2 is good, and as you learn it, you'll will no doubt find more suprises in it, or Andre can add more features.  But it is also a good introductrion to Synfire Pro.  IT IS A LOT OF MONEY,  I have never spent this much $$$$$ on software in my life . In spite of the slow learning curve, I don't regret it. Finances are finances and some will have to settle for HN2.  I think with time more features will be added and it will develop it's own personality and use different from SFP.

Only adding more tracks to HN2 than the current 8..say 32 is still limited, because synfire pro has limitless tracks
Importing Midi files are based on a maximum of 16 midichannels ?

There can be many chunks inside of a MIDI file. ... A type of 0 means that the file contains one single track containing midi data on possibly all 16 midi channels.

So i like to see a feature to add more than 8 tracks in HN2 than now the case is, because richer song composition are than possible

One strong point of HN2 is his simplicity ,because you are forced to compose lineair in song sections and don't loose your self in complexity like in SFP.
It is a challence to drive HN2 to the limit musical what it is capable and as you noticed i am trying to master HN2 and now stuck with the how to record a melody phrase in it , because the midi -controller seems to be not working

--------------------------------------------------------------

SOLVED !: i must scrolled down in the port list..to see the Midi controller

--------------------------------------------------------------
There is no videotutorial about melody recording in HN2, so only the manual..and it seems to me that i can play/hear the melody as i used to be in a DAW as i record there a melody.

Only it is than a take and will be processed later by the figure regocnition to transform it in a phrase
So melody recording is the issue now for me.

Yes HN2 stands on his own and add some more tracks and automatic vst installer and more features to improve the userfriendlyness and sell it for 199 Euro and sell SFP for  799,- euro  than the price gap seems to be reasonable.

My 16 track work around :)

I do not see HN2 as ever replacing my DAW ... it's a fantastic tool to create a midi arrangement to then be imported to my DAW.

I aspire, as I suspect many other do, to import SMF arrangements of songs I like to distill the essence of the song's arrangement for an arrangment in other progressions and/ or other keys.

Many of these songs are written to 16 channels ... which is why I too would like the ability to import 16 'instruments' to a new basis accompaniement.

But! I just do it twice! I make two basis accompaniments. I use one to work out the progression and then export he midi file. I then change the basis accompaniment to the song using the second basis accompaniment and export that midi file.

I Import both midi files to the same project in my DAW and 'Voila!' I am now ready to put the frosting on the cake.

+1 for 16 Tracks

P.S.

@ Mark, just because you own SFP, doesn't mean us HN owners can't have 16 channels.

When I use one drum channel there's only 7 left for other sounds.
