Midi effect drone vst

Posted

I've mentioned this before but not sure I ever submitted it as a feature suggestion.

I'd love a version of the vst drone that is programmed to be a midi effect.

Currently when dragging the drone into ableton, it is recognised as outputting audio data. Even once configured in synfire as a midi drone, Ableton still treats it as an audio source. It is not possible to add a vst instrument (or ableton instrument) on the same track. You can not route the midi out of the track with the drone to another track, rather you have to change the midi in on a second track to get the midi from the drone vst. Additionally, only one midi channel is available with this configuration.

If a second vst were developed that defaults to a midi drone with 16 channels of midi data as output (or only supports midi out), this 'effect' could be used on any midi track together with a vst instrument with full multitimberal routing.

Yes, a MIDI Drone as a MIDI FX is already on the list. We had issuses dropping the audio output so far, but maybe there's a workaround for it.
