Synfire doesn't want to talk to my synth...

My MIDI interface is a MOTU microlite, with 5 in/outs.

I have a Korg Radias on port 2, and all is well with that device.  In fact, I can watch the "2" light up on the MOTU as I select different patches from SynFire.

However, my Korg M3 is a completely different matter:    Synfire isn't sending any midi associated with that device -- nothing I do shows up as any activity on the corresponding port lights in the MOTU interface.

I've done a bit of triaging using MIDI-OX and MIDI-YOKE.   The former confirmed my MIDI hardware is working:   if I route the M3's output to its input, I can play sounds. I used the latter to configure a virtual MIDI port for SynFire so that I could watch its output.    It's been awhile since I've done any MIDI programming, but the output looks ok;  I do see patch change commands as I change programs in SynFire.

I've tried different MIDI ports.  I've tried changing the M3's device id in SynFire.

In case it helps, I think I had this all working BEFORE I installed the beta.....

on windows, please check if another program holds onto the midi port. some usb midi drivers on windows can not connect to more than one client software at a time.

Thanks, but I think the steps I've already taken to investigate this rule out anything to do with the port or the hardware.

In fact, I've just tried something else:   In Synfire, I reconfigured the Radias not to use port 2 and moved my M3's cables over to that ports.   I then reconfigured SynFire to have the M3 on that port -- port 2 -- and still nothing.

And yet, I can go over to MIDI-OX and connect port 2's input to its output and the M3 plays as expected.

I'm starting to wonder if there's something about my M3's device description or connector or whatever that's preventing it from working.....but a very hasty attempt at creating a new device on the M3's port didn't yield any useful results....

I've now spent far more time in the Global Rack than I care to admit....it's about the only part of SynFire I've really experienced so far....   indecision

Send us your device description (to support at cognitone dot com, or attach it here) and we'll fix it. It's possible it just needs an additional connector or something.

You'll find the file on the right-click menu: Show File in Explorer.
