Synfire Pro Crash Report?

Hi fellow users. Its Sunday and I dont want to bother Andre by emailing him directly so I have a question for you folks.

I had another abrupt shut down / crash of Synfire Pro as I was using Save As. This happened yesterday as well. Its intermittent and doesnt happen often. Is there a crash report I can access and send to Andre ?

Thanks!

UPDATE - Found the Crash report. Have zipped and uploaded it.  :)

Thanks for the report.

It confirms an observation we made and are already trying to fix. Apple changed something with their file dialogs with 10.11, with respect to multi-tasking. For a reason we don't yet understand, parts of the dialog window get released while still in use. This is related to asynchronous activity of Finder on the file system.

As a precaution until we found a fix, you can use "Save As" right after you created a new file and subsequently use Command-S to save your progress. This will prevent the loss of work.

Also be sure you disable "Show Infos" in Preferences, under "Native Dialogs" (disabled by default). Enabling this increases the likeliness of this crash also happening when you open files.

I'm confident a fix will be available soon.

Thanks!  I tend to use keyboard shortcuts on software I use and have instinctively been using Command S for the last day or so with no issues.

Sweet! What is the best way to update? Do I just run the installation program or do I need to uninstall the previous version ?

Just download and install the package. Old stuff will be replaced.

Be sure no audio software is running, though.

The same here in Synfire 1.8.3 and I suspect the issue has something to do with multiple unsaved windows. e.g., if I open a new arrangement I can safely save it. But if I create, to say, a new, empty Library, Synfire will eventually crash on Save or Save As that Library. But if I save the Arrangement, then close it, then save the new Library, no crash will occur. After an open-save-close-reopen I can work safely on multiple windows and save them at anytime without further troubles. So far.
