You were asking for it, here it is: A Wiki (see main menu bar).
Every registered user can edit and create Wiki pages, add comments, attach images, sounds, videos, rate a page, etc. All this works almost the same like a forum post. It should not be to difficult to get into.
Those who are a bit familiar with Drupal, the platform behind this site, will also be able to outline pages in a table of contents (using the "Outline" button). This way we can build growing "Books" around topics that are of general interest.
Well, let's try this an see how it develops.

I wonder how well this will work if it's not hierachically organized.
By that I mean, the ability for users to plug their widi comments into an overall outline for each product, including of course an appendix of nested menu items.
Othewise, how will it end up being any different than comments in the existing product general discussion forum ... except maybe more confusing because it includes all products and no easy way to sort one topic from another as it relates to a particular product?
I know certain tasks are redundant. They could simply be crossreferenced with a link.

Outline is possible. Maybe it is not yet configured correctly. The Drupal site itself is a huge outlined knowledge repository: (http://drupal.org/)

Hmm.. I do not see how I can call this input box. Probably only you can see it with your administrator account but not we simple users.
Anyway, I have seen that updating an existing wiki page does not bump it at the recent posts list, only new wiki pages are listed there. So, the cluttering effect should not be too dramatically.
