I'm being patient. It's so like Apple to make internal changes and 3rd party vendors don't find out till it's on sale.. I figure there is plenty of stuff for me to learn in the mean time.. And I really don't want to fighting with buggy software.

We are testing, playing around, discussing things that need to be fixed, assemble the installers (installed and uninstalled Synfire at least a hundred times ... ). Andre still needs to change the web download procedure for new OSX packages. Minor things that need to be done and take their time.
One bigger thing left to do is RTAS integration (ProTools). Not sure if the beta will include this feature already.
Very optimistic! And very exhausted.

I understand that everyone is impatiently waiting for the beta. However, the 10.7 problems held us back. It took a while to get them right, because we had to rewrite and reorganize the entire build and installation procedure, including the download handling. We also changed the corresponding stuff for Windows to make it integrate better with Windows 7.
RTAS integration recently showed issues that we need to fix, because many users work with Pro Tools 9. Some minor inconsistencies with recording and real-time pattern rendering are also pending. I do not want to release something half baken, even if it is a beta. Still two weeks to go at least, that's my current estimate.
Believe me, I am as impatient as you are. This new version will be a true milestone, a breakthrough that changes everything. We are totally excited. We will all have a great time creating new music, sharing tips and tricks ... but I can't change the fact that a day has only 24 hours and that I need to spend some of them sleeping.

Although, i too am getting impatient, i'd much rather wait and get software that does not excessively crash.. Keep working, my thoughts are with you and i'm sending you some 'white light'

I hope before Christmas. Would be a really great christmas present, and i will have my holidays then, too and hence have a lot of time to test and work with the new Synfire version!
Best regards,
Mike.

You won't have to wait that long. We already were about to upload a first version last week but had to stop and go back to fix minor issues that showed up during installation etc.
Keep in mind that we did a 100% rewrite of all midi, sync and audio stuff. The new system consists of 5 tools (synfire audio framework, audio engines, transport/sync plugin, AU/VST plugin scanner, DAW drones) each built for a long list of platforms (XP, Vista 32/64, Win7 32/64, Leopard/Snow Leopard/Lion, each 32 and 64 bit, Intel and PPC and the drones for AU, VST and RTAS, also 32 and 64 bit, Intel and PPC). Let alone the major rewrites inside Synfire that come on top.
Man, that's a lot of scenarios to deal with.
Next week? Let's hope no more issues pop up from now on ;-)

I just want to say thanks to all of you at Cognitone. Your efforts are worth the wait!!!! It's easy for us on the outside to think it is just a quick thing to whip this stuff out. However, just like the final release of Synfire, or Harmony Navigator, the wait was worth every second. Your products are QUALITY products, and I for one am glad you're taking the NECESSARY time to finalize this. Though I love using Sonar, I have always hated the "Let's release this as is, BUGS and all, and then send out the update two weeks later." I can only imagine the programming hell you had to go through. Last thing before I get off my soapbox is, the stuff you're including in this MAJOR UPDATE, truly is worth several hundred euros/dollars. What you're providing as an update is actually a whole new SYNFIRE. I think of a very popular program called REASON that Propellerheads charged several hundred dollars for the audio capability called RECORD. Okay one more soapbox item. :) What you're providing is truly a 2.0 update and yet you're generious enough to grandfather us existing users in. I for one want you to know that I appreciate your customer support. I still feel the money I spent on Synfire as is was worth it, but now it really justifys the higher price tag, and I can see other people feeling that now dropping that kind of money is worth it, because it includes MORE than a standard DAW and can run indepent of in concert with you existing DAW.
Thank you Andre and the rest of the team.

Andre and Co, pleas when you do give a promise or a commitment and you can not stick to it, can you pleas do a follow up! and tell "Sorry but we will not make it", i have seen comments from staff like "This will be fixed in 1.5/This will be so match better in 1.5"<--- makes me mad!, I have not had Synfire installed since June, i have been waiting for the beta forever and in vain, And I do want you to remember that i did buy synfire before there even was demo, I'm so disappointed,
It is looking more and more like a bad investment(890€) och vaporware!

It is a very complicated task of software engineering what Cogniton is doing..it takes time to get this done
I think they want ofcourse satisfy their customers and therefore some promisses, but the reality is that it takes a lot oftime
I do see this more when a company is developing the software..
I am convinct that the wait is justified, because with the new functionality in the software ..

There is nothing to worry about. The builds are already running fine. We are really close.
After investing more than two and a half thousand days of work, I'd rather not want to see this project dissolve into vaporware. That is really pointless. Also for a major rewrite of a product like this, the time spent is absolutely common. It's only that bigger teams can afford to run such projects silently ahead of time and in parallel to their regular updates. At the time of announcement, they are usually already done.
You can rest assured that we are absolutely commited to this project.

At this point i only will say "thank you" for your always friendly, fast responding support. I was a "first-time user" of "earlybird". And I dont want miss it, and I think it was verry fair ! I think you were also being verry interested to make the "Beta" official. It takes time - and you should be glad and happy, to work at this "milestone" of Music Software. The money I invested was much for the moment (i remember it back). But for this Moment, rolled back ... It was absolutely worth it, but is only a hobby for me - also first, also at this moment. I like your Software, dont want miss it as a greatful tool
!! greetings michael

Hey, the problem is not the waiting I can stand out up with waiting
The problem as i see it is the lack reporting the curent development status If staff did have one day a mouth telling us have its hanging all would be fine!.
But the way it have been done these past mouths have not been good,
There have been vague release dates the have been in specific range of days, and when these day have come and gone, there have been dead silence from Staff,

The problem is you and your very stupid complaining. they have to take time to soothe your nagging. If you do not need the software just do not wait for it. Go ahead and compose on your own....and release your great hits. Just dumb

Thats great news. I'm a bit confused about the install there is 4 different install options 1) Cognitone audio 64 ,I don't have a 64 bit system so I won't use that.2) Cognitone Audio Engine msi. 3) Synfire Pro installer .exe 4) Synfire Pro Installer msi. I'm not sure witch install to use on my Windows XP 32bit system. Please advise.
Thanks Joe
