Click and Playback off.

Posted

Hey all,

somehow my click is off, when recording. It comes too early (EDIT: comes too late.)

Any idea whats going on here?

Also is it possible to "drop" into recording,

without going back and starting with the count-in?

(Basically immediate recording on/off while

the song is running, without starting/stopping the song)

Best,

tL.

To ensure proper synch with your click, host it the same way as your other instruments (same host).

Drop in recording works best this way:

1. Arm the desired span on the phrase editor (span tool)

2. Recording will start a bit ahead of that span and will not replace anything outside.

Okay, thanks for the heads up on the drop in recording.

I don't get it what you mean with the clicktrack though.

Example: I use the standart GM "clicktrack" from the Internal GM Synth

As soon as I have any plugin instanciated,

the click is even off, when I record and overdub using the *same* internal GM-Synth

(In this case the GM Midi Drumkit) where the click is coming from.

When I use the GM Synth only, the click is fine. So because I only use one (64bit) SF Engine and

SF only without any other things rewired, send to, synced to, or whatever

I don't exactly understand what you mean with "host it the same way".

Could you be more specific on that matter?

Thanks,

tL.

The default OS X GM Synth is hosted by OS X somewhere in the background. If you want to use the GM Synth for the click, you must host it in the Audio Engine (or DAW) next to your other instruments. The AudioUnit is named DLSMusicDevice:

This ensures all instruments and the click are synched at sample precision.

I'm working on a ClickTrack VST/AudioUnit that communicates with Synfire directly. This will ensure a click is always available indepedent of the OS.

Seems like it had something to do with Battery 4 which was instanciated as a 64bit global plugin.

Deleted it, now everything works fine again.

But the same 64bit Battery 4 on local level works also, so where was the user error here?

(EDIT: Sadly not true. The Internal GM and the plugins are out of sync. Also on playback.)

(EDIT2: Changed GM-Synth to DLS Device plugin, now the click and plugins are in sync!)

Best,

Thanks for the Heads up, I just came up with this solution 2 minutes ago.

Thanks again Andre for your quick help around here.
