Cover of "Let's Stay Together" by Al Green

Posted

Here is a cover tune of Al Green's famous song.  I used equal parts, or Logic, Synfire Pro, hand playing and Tyros 4.

Despite the hard work of getting SFP to play same midi channels and patches, I do go back and forth a few times..  I'll add some SFP parts into Logic, use T4 Style generators and feed that back to SFP.  Still a lot of knowledge learning. I manipulated parts both in SFP and Logic.

Personally I would like to see some kind of 'midi editor' to fix things, or pull out controllers. You really need to 'clean up' the midi file.  For instance although Logic is sending to a particular port and midi channel, the notes themselves may be spread over a couple of MIDI tracks.  Logic 'channalizes it for you,   So you must go thru each track and make sure they are one uniform channel. No extra program patches, etc.  Pitchbends don't always work properly with SFP compared to Logic.

I know I may be making an overcomplex working arrangement.   But thru the years I have often done this, move tracks to other programs to create something.  I sill use Band in a box - I'll generate a solo in that, and then put it into SFP, clean it up, delete repetition, make variations, etc, and then import back into Logic.

Since I often have time contraints, I still have to do more 'experimenting' and playing with SFP to discover all it's hidden secrets..
