Hi Andre,
I know its possible to send midi clock out from Synfire pro with External Sync but is there any way to get Synfire to sync to the clock of anaother device (e.g. like Ableton can do).
Iam using a hardware midi clock generator (midiclock.com) to sync Ableton to two Elektron Machines but I dont seem to be able to find a way to get synfire to sync to this as well.
The problem with using software generated midi clock is that it quickly looses it tight timing hence the dedicated hardware clock generator.
Any way of doing this now or plans for the future or have I missed something all together.

Hi Paul,
currently Synfire works as a sync master only. Slave operation is on our wishlist, but it is extremely hard to implement.
You could try the following:
Saving the Synfire arrangement (or: File >> Export >> MIDI to DAW) causes all MIDI to be transferred to the DAW's drones. From then on, the DAW can be synched to an external clock and play all the music, including what was rendered by Synfire.

Thanks, thats a really great idea for a solution. I tried it out and it seems to work, except (of course :)
When I record the drone midi into a clip Iam always missing capturing the first beat of midi i.e. the pattern gets cut off at the start.
When I hit play again on the midiclock the drone has forgotten what was exported from synfire and doesnt play again until I go through export again.
Any idea of settings I can change to better capture that first downbeat or ensure the drone remebers the last export?

Instead of recording the MIDI, you can drag and drop it from the drone. That will preserve all its contents.
The drone's MIDI buffer should not be cleared when the DAW starts. Only if you start Synfire. Use Synfire to generate and export the MIDI only. Use the DAW for playback only. If I didn't miss something, this should work (can not try at the moment).

Hi Andre,
I'd quite forgotten the drag and drop from drone. I was recording midi into live from Synfire but drag and drop is much cleaner.
Adapting my workflow, export to DAW works really well now. I can leave the set looping, change the motif in Synfire and export to DAW. The midi played by the drone then changes, all synchronized to what is playing in the live set. Could even be used for a live set for the brave.
I still get the drone clearing the exported midi when I hit start/pause on the midi clock device but I can live with that
All I need now is a dedictaed button which allows me to quickly do an export to daw but I think Key Maestro can get me to that.
