The Lost Elves (Mark Styles©2011 Pliant Tunes BMI) -   http://www.box.com/s/k07jx0x8uy02smjpxmq9

This started more xmas inspired, but took a more refined approach. There is a lot of SFP in here. I ported it over to Logic Pro, refiined some more and imported back into SFP.   Then back into Logic.

I'm really getting the hang of the libraries, I'll google for jazz piano midis, guitar licks, etc the and build into Cognitone libraries.  Sometimes as a song progresses, I'll stop to process a midi fill that will have an element I like..

I'm starting to carry the SFP approach over directly in Logic in small ways,  I'll move a phrase or copy from another track, and paste it somewhere, not exactly appropiately.  I fix needed notes to fit into scale.  I can copy a phrase from anywjere and make a quantize grpove of that and apply where needed to.

In spite of still struggling with device lists for external MIDI equipment, I get more excited by this program every day.

Just a purely technical note:

From what I hear, many of the imported figures seem to have broken or incomplete segments. Melodic movements in your texture seem to suddenly break, jump or repeat. This prevents the human ear from following them.

If you take the time to check the segment grouping of imported figures, you get more plausibe voice leading and a vastly enhanced listener experience. The automatic pattern recognition is never perfect. It only does the first 90% for you.

To fix this, just skim imported figures and re-group the segments such that they look correct in terms of melodic structure. Take the mouse lasso, group those symbols that you see fit, and group them.

A little polishing like that greatly contributes especially to slow tunes where the human ear always tries to follow all the small movements. For a reusable library, the effort is really worth it.

I like to hear also have some degree of repetition in your song, because when it all the times let me hear something new i am getting lost

Thanx.  I came to the same conclusion, there is too much jumping around.  The segments are too short, and broken up. I'll try the ungroup and group.

Another part of the problem, is I created a chord progression, which never really repeats.  I wanted to create a 'wandering' quality.  That might be another issue for me to address.

I'm gonna rework this some more..  Thanx for your comments.

I created a chord progression, which never really repeats.  I wanted to create a 'wandering' quality.

A way to achieve this is to repeat a short progression twice, then exchange one or two chords, repeat that twice, exchange the next 2 chords, etc. This way you get a harmonic rhythm that evolves round by round and still maintains a recognizable structure.
