Syncronized Paste into Running Snippet

Posted

Hi.

I notice that if I copy and paste a snippet (e.g. one that I set aside as a backup) into a running snippet then the running snippet is stopped immediately and not rescheduled.  It can then be difficult to manually reschedule the pasted snippet in a way that remains properly sync'd with the running Snippets matrix.

I think in general desired behavior would be to finish the cycle of the running snippet that got pasted over (IOW, let it play to the natural end-of-cycle) while scheduling and starting the newly pasted snippet to begin immediately after.

IOW, no interruption in continuity, just a replacement as of the start of the next cycle for that snippet slot.

If it turns out to be too difficult technically to play the departing snippet to end (because it just got pasted over ...) then at least having the arriving snippet auto-start playback at the start of the next cycle would still be very desirable as the combined playback of all the running snippets would remain in-sync with the new arrival fitting right in as intended (albeit with a 1-time bit of silence while the replacement is accomplished).

Yes, replacing a snippet during playback does not add the new one to the schedule. I also think it should.

There are still a number of imperfections like this. The entire thing around editing-while-playing is not yet complete. We will collect all issues that come up and eventually clean this up in one go when there's enough time to focus on it more thoroughly.
