Here it is:

Needs to be a DAW Drone. This is how to take over drones you added to the DAW:

1. On the rack, select the DAW host

2. Double-click or press [+] and pick the drone you want

3. Select device description

Hi

Andre thanks to your fast reply

Ok,now i see the problem

I did several templates with Ableton-Synfire with drones & Reaper

And now when i open them the midi drones not appeared as i save them

See the picture, now appear as Node Engines, not as DAW2 midi drones as i save them, with the check boxes of the midi drones marked

Then, need i to create a new templates? or is possible to changes the Node Engines as DAW2 RAcks?

* In the Audio & Midi setup window in the Inputs tab appear different DAW2 vst drone input,if i check their boxes what can i do with those input? one example please

And the Driver IAC Bus 1 midi port input, what can i use it,and the Loopback checkbox is for?

Thanks

Hi

Andre forget my first example of template,it was not created with midi drones

I have opened the templates that i created with ableton or with reaper or with ableton-reaper all with midi drones and in synfire 1.7 beta none of them does not work

Before in 1.6.6 all work

First i opened ableton and second synfire but in synfire 1.7 i open first Ableton, load the template open synfire load the template and appear a message saying that i must first open the Daw and i opened first the daw,i don,t know why ask me that if in 1.6.6 never asked that me?

I press cancel and the template opened incomplete and disorganized and the midi drones boxes appear unchecked, see the pictures, appear two daws DAW1 and DAW2 ?

Must i create again all the templates new with synfire 1.7 beta?

Thanks

For a test, I've opened multiple arrangements with Logic DAW drones created with 1.6.6 and they all opened fine with 1.7. The code that keeps the link between them has not changed since 1.6.6. The issue likely has  another cause.

Are you sure the DAW files exactly match their associated Synfire files? Note that if you save an arrangement with "Save As…",  the drones and the arrangement will receive a new unique ID. You must then also save the DAW file with "Save As…" to keep them linked. Synfire shows a warning explaining this.

If you have multiple versions of the DAW files, try these too. You need to find the two that belong together.

You can do this test too:

Create a new arrangement/DAW linked project with 1.7, save it and see if it restores correctly for you. If not, there is a bug, If yes, there may be a file conversion issue that I need to investigate.

Hi Andre

Thanks to your answer and advices

No,i save them with save and in the same folder associated.

When i opened them in synfire 1.6.6 i did not have any problem but don,t worry.

I will do again them with shared rack instead private racks.I think is possible to create a shared rack templates with midi drones and more practical that create them with private racks

Thanks to your help Andre

I know that you are very busy with the update and with our problems,i can imagine how will be your brain with much tension & responsability, you are as our mother and father :)

Well, a bug is a bug. If I can find it, that would help. Being busy with the update means fixing bugs, of course ;-)

Hi

Andre,ok i have today free time and i am trying to make a new templates but for the moment i can not because i have found a bug making containers :  (https://users.cognitone.com/content/synfire-17-beta-container-bug)

I have several doubts, please clarify me:

-* When i create a template i do these steps

First i open Ableton and create one midi track with an instrument rack, inside it i create several cognitone vst drones

I create corresponding number of midi tracks, each midi in the track contains the drones

Open Synfire,In the past i created a tracks with private plugins & midi drones checkboxes checked (and you know all my templates that i created by this way now in synfire 1.7 beta don,t work)

In the present i want change my method and try by, in the Audio & Midi setup rack modules with DAW 1-2-3..... and name it corresponding with the drones: Bass-Arp.....and colour them

My doubts are:

In your ableton video tutorial says first save synfire and after ableton

-In audio & midi setup how must i save the template:

File-Save Rack & Setup or Save Rack & Setup As (save a copy)

-In ableton how must i save the template:

Save Set Live or Save Set Live As

- Can i for example one day to create a template in ableton with midi drones, save it and another day create in synfire its corresponding template and save or is mandatory save the two(synfire-ableton) at the same time or moment, first synfire, second ableton?

What means "template" for you? I assume you want to create an empty project using Ableton + Synfire once, and then clone this later with Save As... to start a new project?

If yes, use the Arrangement Rack (private rack) only. On the rack, select the Ableton host and pick the DAW Drones you have loaded there with [+] or double-click. Make them MIDI Drones.

Save Synfire, then Live. Give both the same filename and put them in the same folder.

Now, when you want to start a new project based on this template, open Live first then Synfire. In Synfire do a "Save As..." then do the same "Save As..." in Live. This way both files stay linked.

Hi

Andre,excuse me i forgot

Also i did several templates with 1.6 :

1* Ableton Master-Reaper Slave-Synfire

2* Reaper Master-Ableton Slave-Synfire

††† Then in 1* first i must save Synfire-save Ableton-save Reaper

Open first Ableton-open Reaper-Open Synfire

Save As first Synfire-Save as Ableton-Save As reaper

††† Then in 2* first i must save Synfire-save Reaper-save Ableton

Open first Reaper-open Ableton-Open Synfire

Save As first Synfire-Save as Reaper-Save As Ableton

Is correct?

Best Wishes

All you need to take care of is to save Synfire always first.

When Synfire is saved, it transmits all drone configuration to the DAW. When the DAW is then saved, it is ensured the drone configuration written to the DAW file is current.

That portion of the code did not change much since 1.6.6. But now that I found a bug with it, let's hope the new build tomorrow will fix it.

Hi

I have found the secret to work,to open the old and new templates & songs in Synfire beta 1.7

In synfire 1.6 i first applied double clic directly over (for example) the template.als (Ableton) and after directly over the template.cognac and them opened without problems but...

in 1.7 beta this method for me does not work (i don,t know for another people)

I have discovered that yes work first apply double clic to the Ableton Icon (it opens empty) after double clic over the Synfire icon (it opens empty) go to ableton and load template.als go to synfire and load template.cognac

In this way yes

By the way,one question

When i opened the first version of Synfire it opens with Synfire and Engine,Synfire in foreground with a new arrangement

Now,i dont know why  it opens with Synfire and Engine but Engine in foreground and when i take Synfire in foreground it is empty without any arrange,i must go to the top  File-New-Arrangement

Interesting observation. I have no idea why 1.7 would open differently than 1.6.6. Does it really not show a new arrange window after you started it? That's weird. How did you start it?

Fr., 06.09.2013 - 09:41 Permalink

Hi

Andre yes,i can not make a video gif to see it because it not record the top menus of synfire

I simply double clic over the icon of Synfire and appears in the top the menu of the Engine and i must Comand+Tab to select the synfire Menu and File- New Arrangement

Don,t worry i can compose in this way,not affect anything to the software, only we can say that is weird situation :)
