Using drones in Cubase 6.5 with Halion Sonic SE

Posted

I like to use the inbuilt Halion Sonic Se in Cubase 6.5 for SFP as a drone soundmodule
There is no VST folder where Halion Sonic Se is stored in , so it it is not needed to relocate the Halion Sonic SE ?

Is this possible?
It is betetr to use a drone than connect the Halion Vsti with a midi loopbackdriver.

i don't know about the routing system of cubase but
you don't need to loopback driver actually
you can use "Midi Drone" instead ...
and also 1 Midi Drone can send 16 tracks midi data to the host

Thanks!

Cognitone say that it is better to use a VSTi in SFP itself first..it has advantages above the VSTi installed as a drone.

After you made your arrangment first in SFP than you can export this to the DAW and relocate the VSTi to the DAW
Than you can finish the arrangement in the DAW.

But the problem is how to get the Halion Sonic SE ( from Cubase 6.5) directly in SFP as a VSTi ?
If this is not possible than you say that i must use Halion Sonic SE as a drone ?
Ok how to get Halion Sonic SE as a drone...

""you say that i must use Halion Sonic SE as a drone ?""
no
i am saying "Midi Drone" mean is there is no vsti inside the drone ..
just like virtual midi cables / loopback drivers but more useful because you can use export midi to daw feature
easly with midi drones

i am not sure %100 but Halion S SE must be cubase specific instrument
so.. i don't think there is a way to use Halion as like a regular vsti in the drones.

my suggestion was :
add a drone ( empty drone) and make this drone "Midi Drone" in SFP
then connect / route drone's midi output to the Halion track in cubase

No ..that is not the case

Yes  i think so too, although it is a dll file as in "shared component" folder

Midi  drone's  output to a Halion track in Cubase seems to me possible with all routing possibilities of Cubase
There is a DAW1 Cubase(64)(VST) host showing up in SFP and a Midi Drone button.. i try to reasoning what happens here..how it works
