Sometime in the next 10 months I'm going to buy a new MacPro (or possibly explore the idea of a Hackintosh) unless anyone here has had negative results with it..
I don't have to do anything other than install SFP on new machine, and plug my dongle into that? (are there any hidden ilock files that I need to make transition?)

Yes, you have to download and install the latest Pace drivers for the iLok ... but it shouldn't be any big deal.
You may not have heard, but iLok recently changed up their system to a 'dedicated' type browser, instead of going in through a regular browser. It's all part of the latest install package and shouldn't be any great issue. Personally, I like it.
There were some issues when they first switched over, as they underestimated the demands on their servers for the flood at the time of change ... but it all appears to be worked out now.
