Controlling enharmonic spellings (Bb instead of A# etc.)

Posted

New user here, getting to know the demo.

Is there a way to change or control the enharmonic spelling of a chord or bass note? i.e. if I want to see a Bb instead of A#? Working in the key of C, for example, whenever I enter Bb it automatically "corrects" it to A#. I know they are the same note, but sometimes I want the opposite spelling.

Note spelling depends on the horizontal scale. With equal tempered tuning, A# and Bb are the same frequency, but not necessarily with other tunings. That's why they have different names.

If you "sometimes want the opposite spelling", you probably think of a different key (that implies a different horizontal scale). Then changing the key will also change the spelling.

Thanks Andre. Sorry for the late response, I don't seem to be getting notified of replies.
