Drag Phrase From Library To Create New Instrument In Container?

Posted

When I audition phrases in the libraries posted on the website by Mark Spears, I see the named phrases are linked to a specific GM Instrument.

If I drag them into a blank container, in the Instruments or Mixer page, the little white outlined rectangle adds the 'circle crossed by a diagonal line,' indicating I cannot drop them on the page.

Is there a key stroke combination that would permits this?

It seems like being able to directly drag and drop or copy/ paste from a library to one of these pages should be an obvious feature ... or at least with a key stroke combo.

You need to create an instrument first, then you can drag phrases to the instrument. If you want to use several phrases from library, the first one can be dragged, any others must be copied and pasted, otherwise they will want to go to measure one, beat one and overwrite what was previously threre..

It would be one step easier if you could just drag the phrase onto the instrument time line where you wanted it..

Sounds reasonable. Although this would always replace the currently selected phrase in that container.

You can give your startposition/endpositions of your instrumenttracks..by placing them in containers

The containers are a visula feedback how your arrangement is build up than

If you do this, than you can also see in the instrument view by shrinking the picture

To help you with building up your arrangement with containers ..use the VIEW>> parameter explanation ..very handy ..to see what phrase is in a container ( or not )
Use this option in the instrument view when you copy a phrase into a container

SFE is for using a own dedicated container for a instrument in the arrangement view limited in use opposite SFP

It has onlt 2 nesting levels ..so if you collect your individual container instrument in a "section" container ( Keep Child containers in a Row) than there is no container level left for a snapshot for the individual instrument

In my opinion a design error for this SFE .. to have only 2 nesting level for container ..it needs at least 3 nesting levels

- one section container ( collapsable for collecting instruments containers ) (1)

- one default instrument container (2)

- one customized instrument container (3)-alternative for phrase

- one snapshot instrument container (4) for a parameter

I hope Cognitone will chance this in the feature.

Even better is to allow  4 nesting levels :  for chancing a phrase  as alternatief for a existing one

So there would be no way to deselect the phrases in the container and drag to a blank area, That would be what I was thinking.

Honestly, it is hardly a 'deal breaker' issue, but it does seem like any way to efficiently and intuitively turn 3 or 4 steps into 1 is a plus.

Now: 1) click to add instrument; 2) change (ususally) voice of instrument; 3) drag phrase onto instrument with proper voice.

Future: 1) drag phrase with intrument to blank area of container.
