Easily make a copy of a device description (DD)?

Posted

The vienna synchron player has 1 audio output and so you can only use 1 instrument per rack.
Now I used 14 instruments from the vienna epic orchestra 2.0 from a template.
Started with rack 1 and made a final device descriptor (DD) from that from a template DD.

From the Rack module library I can place the rack 1 on the structure screen, but I cannot see for which instrument I am doing this in the structure screen, if I use the same DD for all the other racks

So, how I should be able to make a copy of the first device description?
There is no copy feature ( duplicate ) to choose.

In general, you rarely need to duplicate a DD. You can use the same DD for any number of rack modules at the same time.

If you are using templates, the Sound Assignment Wizard adds a new rack module for each new sound.  Just pick the sound properties from a template on the last page of the Wizard. It creates a single-channel DD for you using that sound.

Thanks.
So I have now created a device description for all 14 instruments to be used.
Can use it over and over again for a new rack, but these racks all have the same name from the first DD and so cannot see which instrument was used.
Can make a duplicate of this first DD, then the can give an instrument name to it.
Is all cumbersome, so using a template to create separate instruments works faster.

So via a template, you can also create 14 instruments individually with each having its own rack if I understand you correctly.
Can use the first DD and then create the other remaining individual instruments.
