Figure Recognition on Multiple Chunks after Import

Posted

Hi.

Working now with Synfire Pro 2.4.0 (Win 10).

The 'Simple' option for MIDI file import is great!

I started in Cubase, with tracks like this:

then exported them to a MIDI file and brought them into Synfire:

all perfectly divided into 4m chunks by selecting 'Simple' in the MIDI File Import dialog:

Wonderful!

And doing it just like that, with no Figure Recognition is very fast  (Yay!).

Now that everything is perfectly chunked, I would like to do Figure Recognition.   At this point, for a single chunk, FR itself is also very fast.   Lovely!

Unf. it seems I currently have to manually visit every chunk to do this.  Is that true?

If we could, working from this point, say "Do Figure Recognition on all chunks" that would be superb!

P.S.  My observation seems to be that if you try to do the above processing with FR on from the beginning, there is a major hit in speed.   I'm loving what happens when we "chunk, then recognize" - I'd just like to not have to visit each chunk manually to do that.

P.P.S.  Setting up the names as shown did get me corresponding instrument assignments in Synfire, all except for the drums.   Drum kits do not seem to be attaching to incoming track names like all the others.

From your more recent posts I assume you already found Pool >> Run Figure Recognition

Yes, thanks.

Got up from the Chunk to the Pool level, which is a definite improvement.

Getting up from the Pool to the Library level, as discussed in the other topic, is the new frontier!
