Filter Master Take When Phase-Pool Dropped on Snippet Group

Posted

Hi,

Consider a Phrase Pool that contains, say, many Chunks with Figures, along with a Master Take for which there is no Figure.

If this PP is dropped on a Snippet Group, one of the snippets created is for the  Master Take.  However, presumably because the MT has no Figure (?) , it will not playback anything when scheduled, either manually or by the Dice.

So, if it won't playback anything, it's pointless for it to be there, right?

If that is so, then I suggest that the process of dropping the Phrase Pool on a Snippet Group be enhanced to filter out the MT when creating the set of Snippets.

I remember it only inserts phrases marked as favorite

I believe I'm observing otherwise.   (Later note:  yes, because this PP had no Favs in it.  See next post.)

Having an -option- to only drop the ones marked as favorites would be great, but -requiring- that favorites be previously designated and otherwise dropping nothing would be a disaster!

OK, as of Synfire Pro 2.4.1 b3:

If there are no Favorites, then all are candidates for drag-drop into the Snippets Group (SG).  (Disaster averted, whew!)   Pool items will fill the SG to the limits of rows/columns in the grid.

If there are any Favorites in the Phrase Pool (PP), then just the Favorites from that PP will drop into the Snippets Group.

So, if a Phase/Chunk is not a Favorite, then drag it in individually.

To be clear, currently, if you want to bulk-drop all contents of a PP which contains a(ny) Favorite onto a Snippet Group you cannot.

So, if you wanted to return a PP to bulk-dropability, you'd have to go thru all the items one-by-one and un-favor them.   Which means you'd be undoing your prior work!   Ack!

This situation is not ideal.

I'd rather see a dialog (  Drop All / Drop Only Favs ), or have a checkable config item than be in the position of either losing Favs or losing bulk-dropability.

IOW, it is possible, and desirable, to have both.

P.S.   How about some visual on chunks to indicate Fav status?   (e.g. different color, or a small graphic)?  That would be helpful for multiple reasons.

There is a heart icon on those chunks

There is a heart icon on those chunks

Yes, there is.    Thank you.

FWIW, it is often very hard to see.

Could we possibly have the color of the heart icon set to

Red

(or be able to set any user-desired color)?

I still suggest that the process of dropping the Phrase Pool on a Snippet Group be enhanced to filter out the MT when creating the set of Snippets.     Conceptually, is there any reason to put the MT into a Snippet Group?
