How to use the pause parameter in the arrangement

Posted

I don't have a idea how i must assign the pauze parameter to a container or segment /measures in the arrangment

Intuitive i am thinking on a part of container what is disabled.

What seems to be very straightforward and easy to apply in SFE, (should be) .. i can't find it yet

I am searching for this for quite long time..looking at the enclosed arrangments in SFE, studying video's but not found a answer..trying out self ..but don't get the right result..strange.

Not sure how you pause a container but the two ways I've found are:

The pause button to the left of the instrument name. I use it to temporarily stop that instrument playing for that container.

The pause parameter. This you draw it in for an instrument by selecting the pause parameter then use the pen tools. It acts like a reverse gate. I use this in a child container to stop an instrument playing in the parent container. Where its on ( line near the top ) the instrument is silenced and when it's off (0) the parent figure plays. Very useful to drop out things like the drums at the end of an 8 bar loop.

Thanks

I added a container and nested a pauze container in it and open the phrase from this and draw a pauze line with values  of 0 (  sound ) and  1( muted sound).
Problem with SFE if you use a nested pauze container than all levels of nesting (max 2) are used.
But in the first container you can chance more than one parameter at the same time  and hopefully is that sufficient enough to get the desired phrase.

Should it be also possible to use articulation in HAlion 4 with standard controllers ?
HALion 4 has some nice articulations for all kind of sounds to give the midi a live feel

If in cubase you can map a midi cc to the articulation You want to affect then yes it will work. Although cubase has a feature I think called note expression which applies to specific notes. This is not widely supported and i dont think it is currently supported by synfire. It's a bit like the difference between channel and polyphonic after touch. Not every instrument and vsti supports polyphonic after touch and only vsti and hosts supporting the latest vst standard support note expression ( think its actually only supported by two hosts one of which is its inventor, cubase)
Most of the standard stuff will work though. Supertonic explained the idea of wiggling the control in synfire when using midi learn in the daw/vst to link the control with the effect you want to change. That works well in ableton live in midi learn mode but not sure how you do it in cubase.

It is much better for articulation in Cubase..it has expression maps ..works easy.

That is not the problem, i can bring the Midi from SFE to Cubase 6.5 and add there articulation to the sounds.

But i like to stay in SFE ( i am there now.. and i like to do the most composing there )

If i can do articulations in Synfire i am happy too, but SFE has no articulation feature in it.

HAlion 4 offers also articulation for not classical instruments too.

These instruments i like to use in Synfire Express, but i must than try to use them on a other way.

Well Cubase work on the same way i think , but that's in Cubase ..advanced automations is there possible

What setup is this than ?
