Are there any tutorials on Jazz music specifically? I just got Synfire Express and love what it sounds like and the possibilities that it will allow.

There are no specific tutorials for Jazz yet, but Synfire is great for Jazz.
Regarding Jazz chord progressions, you will want to work with multiple palettes open at the same time, so you can jump between keys. Pop doesn't make much use of this, but Jazz does all the time.
Soli map to any harmony nicely (also multiple voices) and alternative palettes and polytonality are great to experiment with.
I always wondered what would happen if Nils Petter Molvear had Synfire to compose weird backgrounds for his trumpet performances. He's a genius with melody and expression.
