I'm really excited about synfire !
Just finished to read the manual and looking at the tutorial videos, looks very interesting.
Now I'm waiting for my trial license....

I got my trial license, great service !
First thing I wanted to know was if synfire is capable of doing pop/rock stuff.
To be honnest I'm not at all interested in clasical music... :)
Well, the attached file is the result of day 1, four hours testing and trying, a litle ballad thingie ;)
It's short because I didn't have more time and, as you know, you can't save with the trial version...
Judge for yourself, and let me know what you think.

Synfire is great for Pop ballads. It works for all styles that involve melody, harmony and rhythm.
Rock music and MIDI might not always be the perfect match, unless you
have very good guitar synths and know how to play them. If your style requires human players, you
can work out a song concept with Synfire and print a lead sheet for your band, using
the notation export function. Synfire is probably very cool for math rock and
more complex styles of Rock, although I haven't tried.
Judging from your image, you seem to be a keyboarder. That's a big
advantage, as you can easily create your own phrases and prototype new
music based on your own material.

yes I'm a keyboarder and occasionally I play bass guitar in our band too.
Hence the 2 instruments I concentrate my tests on for the moment.
I must say that I'm very impressed by the possibilties of synfire, especialy the possibilities of fine-tuning the groove, velocity, etc...
Way better then Band in a Box which I used until now and for which I'm a style writer.
Your manual is pretty good and well written, which doesn't mean that I wont have questions in the future :)
