Modify Ranges

Posted

Drag the edges of the blue Range to expand or shrink the range. Or click while holding Shift.

Drag the green Typical Pitch to best possible sound. Or click while holding the Alt key to set a particular note.

What is this for Windows 11 keystrokes ?
Shift and alt is understood , but not the other two symbols?

That's why I wanted to go to the chromatic parameter to make this sound range setting easier, but at best this can only be used for a correction.
What I was already afraid of has now become reality to have to start setting those three sound ranges and it still doesn't work smoothly at all.

The best would be to forget the three sound ranges in Synfire and have one sound range, because the sound range is taken from the vst instrument anyway.
This also gives an overview with the correct location( range)  of the tracks in octave notation
The new Cubase 13 builds on this fact of the correct location of tracks with new editing options, but I do not use them.
Anyway, I am now stuck with the soundrange settings to set cumbersome.

The template set soundrange of an instrument, is it also taken over in the soundrange of the converted audio plugin of a global rack ?
Can this be updated ..would be useful?

There is at least 1 octave needed for each of the 3 soundranges , so the limits can be determined of the soundrange of the vst instrument with lower and upper soundrange.

On our wishlist is an idea to get rid of 3 separate ranges and have only one total pitch range with 3 sweet spots instead. The ranges could be calculated automatically.

Ok , there is "copy from sound" option for the audio plugin.
It looks like these are the template soundranges.
Now it seems to work properly and the BBC symphonic orchestra plugin nicely shows the correct soundrange for a test instrument.
Copy from sound (template) ? , of course only 1 sound is assigned, but some user friendlyness would help.

If this becomes reality, then you will enable composer to easily assign sounds and have a better overview of the location of instruments in relation to each other.
Possibly also advanced editing capabilities on the horizon?
