Progression window

Posted

Hi

first of all i want to thank to Cognitone again

my black bird landed without problem yesterday and now i am finally Synfire user ... after so many years of demoing.

:)

ok a few Q as a newbie

Q1 about the DAW Transport/synch  in Progression Window

when i create an Accompaniment from part of the song and then i want to test with my chord progressions library

Accompaniment  edit window works synch  with DAW

but Progression window doesn't

is this is normal or am i missing something?

Q2

is there is a way to "Store"  instrument ranges  as a template like interpretation preset save ..

for quick and easily test/apply  to instrument  ..without messing with instruments categories?

that's it so far.

Best Regards

Welcome on bord!

Q1: It is normal, because the DAW timeline does not relate to what you are playing in a palette or progression editor.

Q2: You can create a device template with sounds that use these ranges. Then copy their properties to new instruments using the instrument inspector's option menu. If you have sample libraries with many sounds, but only need  a few at a time, this is the best way to go.

Thank you !

about the answer2
now i see i wasn't clear in Q2...
actually my question wasn't about the sample libraries or romplers and their instrument ranges
i was thinking more about figures... sometimes applying different range to the figures gives surprise / good result
i was hoping there is fast- easy way to build templates and access in one menu same like interpretations ..
maybe i am overlooking right now..even this could be just a newbie hype , excitement ..
but.. anyway thank you i will think on your suggestion to how to use it as an experimental , workaround way for what i want to try .

Btw.. meanwhile i am importing midi files and that funny harmless ring tone thing was same in Synfire too.
after import finish if i click to container ring tone plays again and again...

No, there are no presets for ranges. But you can now more easily edit the ranges by dragging their end points with the mouse.

The ringtone is funny. I guess Andre left some background process running that repeats over and over until you stop it :-D
