Question About Cooperative

Posted

I had understood that the cooperative parameter may change the rendered notes based on notes played by other instruments.  This understanding was based on the manual:

The parts played by other instruments are taken into consideration
and conficts are avoided.

I've been experimenting because I wanted to understand how a part knew which other parts to take into account.  For example, it obviously should not consider drum parts.

However now I'm confused because with just a single part, the rendered notes change when ticking this parameter.  How can that be when there are no other parts to consider?

That algorithm cause unwanted side effects and is not yet fully enabled. Actually this option should read "Make the instrument behave politely", so it would not likely conflict with others.  It is another way of reducing blue notes and passing tones.

We hope to revise this algorithm with a future update.

Understood.  Perhaps in the meantime it would be worth updating the manual to describe what the parameter actually does, as currently it's misleading.

Great question, Pete! And thanks for clearing that up, Andre.  Very useful information for my workflow (involving freezing tracks).
