Synfire & DAW on Different Machines

Posted

Did you know you can run the DAW and Synfire on different machines in the local area network?

If you have two computers available and are desperately trying to get around Windows' limited supply of multi-client audio and MIDI drivers, it is worth a try.

Be sure you install the Audio Engine on both computers. On the DAW computer, run the Engine once to set the IP of the Synfire computer on the Engine's user interface. The Engine, Drones and Transport will then use that IP to connect to Synfire.

To be honest, although I know it works with the Audio Engine, I never tried this with a DAW!
