Time Signature ??

Posted

Still trying to learn this beast.... I'm trying to bring in a midi file that is based in 6/8.   The import is coming in at 4/4.   How do I change the program to import pattern as 6/8 or after the import change it to 6/8

I got to be honest here... Getting frustrated at the lack of training on this program.  Getting very close to removing it from my workflow, since I seem to be fighting it most of the time, in addition to it crashing all the time on the midi pattern import.   Yea I knows its most likely my lack of knowledge at this stage on how to leverage this tool, but....

Trying to be optimistic here, but this is really not turning out to be what I expected, so far.   I'm falling back to my old ways of writing since they work.

And how do you turn down the volume level of the Pallete Window... that string sound when hit on a chord is SO SO much louder then the rest of the sounds played everywhere else...  grrrrrrrr....

Your're getting closer. Don't give up ;-)

On the import dialog, there's a "Signature" field where you can override the setting of the file (or if none is present in the file). Fixing the time signature after import is not really an option, because it heavily influences harmony detection.

The Palette window uses the global instruments "Chords" and "Bass", so that's where you can change their default volumes. Find them on the Audio & MIDI Setup window (open with the toolbox icon, top right on almost every window).

Alternatively, you can adjust the "Preview Mix" on the Harmonizer tab.

Don't let minor things like these frustrate you. Once you figured them out, it's going to be easier.

Thanks!   Didnt mean to sound harsh.   Just was a little annoyed about the 4 midi import crashes I've had to day.   That and everytime I try to use the palette to select a chord it about makes me go deaf...lol

Not giving up on it..

Found an interesting workflow if I can get it to be stable.    Using Presonus Progression and import .gp5 tabs into it.   I then select what passage I like from a track, export it to a midi file, for import into Synfire.    It seems this may have possiblities.    There are millions of .gp5, .gp4, gp3, gp2 files for download on the internet free.  Should be able to get some patterns from there.
