Synfire 2.2.3 Build #6 comes with a little goodie: The coloring scheme "Tonnetz". 

There's an example palette document included with that name. This theory covers major/minor chords only. It probably makes sense to add some chord extensions later on.

It is from German Ton Netz  (grid of tones)   .  I have to watch the YT video to see what it is.  So Diatonic scale is always the same figure.  And minor chords are the same with the yellow dot as root. So what has this to do with your color scheme? Need more infoTonnetz

Andre, thats a nice addition. I feel that the colors are not sufficient, instead I suggest to have dynamically changing labels (like those you show for the chord function, like T, S, D) with the respective transformation, like P, R, L used to end up with the chord which is labelled.

That's a cool idea but dynamic labeling is not yet possible (only coloring). The colors though are assigned according to P, L, R and N
