Was drawing a modulation curve and held key Ctrl(control) and the line was drawn thick.
What else more are the handy key combinations to find?
Is not known to me yet ...

The help browser has some hints for all tools and keys.

Freehand: draw any curve or shape you like
This turns out to be trickier than suggested in the tooltip, because the interpolation options are diffcult to understand and what is default ?
Is there any information about this in the online manual?
