Synfire and Cubase connecting via rewire

But as far as I know, the Synfire Composer can operate as
ReWire Device, right? Then you can route MIDI thru ReWire and you don't need the Loopback at all.

Is this setup possible right now?

ReWire is used for transport and tempo control. MIDI is sent over LAN to the Synfire drones in Cubase.

It is about a midichannel and not for a drone this setup.
Synfire has no rewire output for a midi channel, and if cubase has a rewire input for a midichannel ..it could work ( but Cubase 8 pro cannot act as a slave ?)

So midi with rewire ends here.. a easy setup like in logic with a loopbackdriver seems to be not possible?, but perhaps have another cubase users a answers for this ?

Then a drone setup in Cubase is the only way to use it..if a loopbackdriver is not possible

I do want to use the native sounds of Cubase !.....how to get this be done with a drone ?..that is the bottleneck here

In Windows it is difficult to work with one audiodriver for two audio programs ( you must use asio server driver )
You can add wave audio in Cubase to the Synfire arrangement ( Cubase is a very musical DAW )
But it is not possible to use the own Cubase sounds as i see it now and there a labourious setup with drones

This statement is not correct, if you are struggling with drones, have a look in the wiki where you have post explaining drone and cubase use.

Why are you so negative Blacksun ?
You act as a moderator here and it is not your business what i write here

As you know Synfire is chanced all the time and also the drone handling

Sorry Jan for my outbust caused by frustration with yourpost, I have altered my post.

Just for your information though, I am just a synfire user like yourself. I try to be helpful to people that are struggling, but have no special relationship with cognitone except being a synfire user for over 6 years.

Ok

My initial post was the topic about the loopbackdriver caused by the video tutorial and from there i went to drones and rewire as side topics

If i can use a loopbackdriver then i forget the drones for now, but that seems to be not the case..i am forced to use the drones with no use of native Cubase sounds.
Struggling with drones is not what i am facing now.. using them seems to be easy now. (there is some old post where the setup in cubase itself is explained, but that's seems to be the only difficulty getting the right midi channel routing in Cubase itself, but maybe not?).
I must look again to a WIKI video..

The wiki shows only a Vsti in Synfire to Cubase relocate, but i want to use the native sounds of Cubase too, but this seems to be not possible
There are no natitve Cubase sounds to get as Vsti in Synfire..so relocating is not possible.

Jan,

check out the post in the wiki by juergen...shows how to use midi drones to drive cubase.

Although he's using the halion sonic se vsti it is just accepting midi so should work with anything that accepts midi. The other thing is I think the 'midi drone' option has been moved to the rack in synfire.

This is very very similar to the video i did about using midi drones to drive ableton live native (non-vsti) instruments, that too is in the wiki.

Blacksun,

I is a quite a long time ago that i was setting up drones in cubase and forget the handling of the midi routing in Cubase.
( i did this with @petearch, so where is that post?..http://users.cognitone.com/topic/how-setup-transient-gm-general-midi-drone-cubase-75)
Yes i found the animated gif : http://users.cognitone.com/files/forum/4856_Set_Up_GM_Drone.gif where the midirouting in Cubase is explained
This animated gif can be added to the WIKI... a long explanation..my memory about this faded away.
When i get the right midi routing in Cubase it could be possible used for the loopbackdriver..that should be fantastic
Problems starts with midichannel routing in Cubase when there are more then one drones used

I am curious to see how it is possible to connect non-vsti instruments .

It seems to be 100% working the Synfire loopback midi channel setup with Cubase for all sounds in Cubase (Vsti and non-Vsti )
(not as easy in Cubase this loopback setup, compared with Logic, but still not too difficult)
