Hello,
I want to get a nice guitar sound in my song using the arpegiator functions.
I want to make sure that Synfire is using the specific guitar chord shapes I specify for the particular arp to follow. For example E first position on a guitar instead of E on a keyboard
I understand that we can print up guitar chord shapes, but I don't know how to make synfire use those same shapes in the actual sequence.
Any help would appreciated.

We were talking about this earlier on this thread.

I've been using a program called Strum Gs1. Its really great for mocking up guitar parts. Unfortunately it has no midi out.
If this sort of thing ever does make it into synfire, Strum would be something to look at for sure.

thanks TokyoRose,
I was hoping that we could choose a stringed instrument chord in the same way we can choose our other chords. I guess not, but hopefully sometime.
I think this is necesary for a realstic guitar part, for me I'm interested in Classical or Folk at the moment.

Currently the arp symbols do not map to instrument specific fingerings. Instrument simulation for piano and guitar (fretted string instruments) is on our agenda.

Will you also impliment the other signals as well, like chords?
I'm glad i'ts on the aganda! This will make for very realistic stringed instrumentation.

( assuming you mean "symbols": ) The arp symbols and chord symbols refer to different coordinate systems. They can be used in the same phrase for different effects.
As the arp symbols already refer to a pitch-wise enumeration of the current chord, they can be changed most easily to map to the strings of an instrument. The only question is where and how to set the fingering that is to be rendered.

yes, I meant symbols... damn auto type!!!
Do you have an idea for when this might be implimented?
I think that along with the arp, stringed instrument chords would be good too.
