I am now heavily involved with composingarrangements by building up chordprogressions.
I do miss a chordruler design track to get easy the right focus when i am working in Synfire.
My workflow is that the total chordprogression is build up from (extended) different 4 measures chordprogressions( but can vary), but i loose all the time oversight when i extend the chordprogression.
In this example arrangement what i study , i know what the chordprogression will be at forehand, and it should be extremely useful/handy for composing to have the desired chordtrack( chord progression) under the chordruler track
The chordruler design track can be placed above the chordruler track .. for comparing.
It is important to see the whole chordprogression.
Further you can give as user a color to the measure bottom and give a color to the chord symbol of the chordruler design track.
With coloring the measure bottom you can depict what scale is used there and coloring the chordsymbol is for harmonic function ( tonic, dominant, etc )
Perhaps it is possible to use the palette for chordprogression designing ?
I feel that this is really necessary.. a "chord ruler design track" for serious composing.
The chord/melody ruler design track can serve also for constructing a melody to as a tool for knowing what chord is involved as you take chordtones for constructing the melody ( it is not anymore drawing the melody, but a planned build of it )

Yes, I think you're idea is good.. I don't understand why you put the chords twice though.. The chords should contain an accurate view, so if a later container is added with new chords, that would show up in container section.
Yes, your chord progression was interesting.. It's obvious you've been doing some experimenting..

The chords are put twice, because at the top are the actual chords you are working on ( use option chord ruler ) and below is your intended chordprogression as a scratchpad for chordprogression.
If you start with a basis chordprogression with a particulair mood , than you can extend this...it is a step by step process and knowing the chordstructure( your design ) for the arrangment in front of you where you can depict with colors what the chordprogression is doing ( modulation or goes from major to minor mood, tonic , dominant , etc --> it gives your more control about what you are doing... later on you can use the chord palette to work further on the chord ruler design track for new ideas..refinements)
Perhaps is this chordruler design track also the place where you can name the songsection and where you can add a tutorial text how this particulair songsection is build up.

So this chordruler design track is a jack of all trades :)
The chordruler design track is a tool to get a more controlled building of your arrangment
A arrangement made on this way can be stored in the library also with the chord ruler design track included for reuse.

What I meant by 'accurate view' was that if there is a lower container (at bottom of container section). It will override any earlier chords (higher up in container list).. So although you may be working in a container, 2nd from top, you want it to reflect the chords that are in perhaps in the 4th container down.
I sometimes make a chord container to try out. If I''m not sure if I want to use it.. I lengthen the song, and move the chord container to measure 200 or something.. Since we don't have mutable containers yet.. Just move them later in the track when the original arrengement is over.. Of course you have to keep track of where the container started. I put the measure # in the name of the container..
