:-( Hi, i have noticed that when i export midifiles to import into sonar x2 all is fine until i assign them a vst.
Some vsti's, notably omnisphere and all the Native instruments Komplete plugins will not output any sound, although they appear to trigger ok. If i change plugin to one of the Image-line plugins or any other i have put on that channel i get audio.
I have all so tried sonar x1 and 8.5 as well as flstudio 10.09c, but encounter the same problem.
I tried work around by importing the midifiles to another channel and then cut and paste notes to vsti but still no sound.
I have cubase sx4 and everything works fine with that. Installed all programs on another computer but didn't cure problem. The mentiioned vst's all play audio when triggered by an external keyboard .After a day of experimenting i have run out of ideas.
Btw i have only tested on pc's and not mac. Synfire Pro 1.6.6 Build #3 (Windows)

Have you tried looking at the data in midi event view? I can't remember the exact name bu s shows all the events. Check things like the note velocitities, any cc settings especially volume etc. also check the timing.. Thinking maybe there is some pre event tat sonar is playing but other daws is ignoring. Or that the instruments in different daws reacts differently to velocity and the data has a low velocity setting.
Another thing might be sonar refusing to share th audio device with synfire?
Can't think of anything else at the minute, hope that helps though?

Omnisphere and Kontakt is multi-timbral , IL plugins not multi-timbral ( except the DirectWave) so sounds like midi channel issue to me
be sure you select correct midi channel numbers in the omnisphere and kontakt.
Also for the kontakt you can swith to "Omni" mode to see quickly,
if you get sound from Kontakt in omni mode this means i am right : )
i hope it helps

Hi, thanks to both of you for the advice, i will have to look into this further. The multi timbral suggestion seems very likely to have something to do with it but i tried all 16 channels when i was testing it, but no luck. I am not assuming that it is nescersarily a problem with synfire as any one of these programs could be at fault.
I did find out last night that if i export the midi created with synfire and impoted into harmony navigator then resaved it before importing into sonar every thing then worked fine, but i had to reharmonize, i should have imported it using static pitch. This at least will give me a temporary work arround. It suggests that synfire must export differently to harmony navigator.
