Hi I hope this is the best/right place to post this.
I'm a singer/songwriter with limited ability to play an instrument. I'm just not that coordinated. But I have music in my head all the time and I've been looking for something that will help get it out. I know basic music theory. My style is mostly pop/rock, but sometimes there are symphonies floating around.
So my question is is Pro worth the extra money? At this point, it is just a hobby. Though maybe it will turn into more if I could actually get the sound out.
I've been playing with the pro demo and love the paint tool. I like that I can make expressions with it and it stays in key it's in. I can play basic chords only, so this is amazing for me.
But other than exporting notation and movie time score setting which I don't see using, I can't quite figure out the differences and whether they are important to me.
Thanks!
Lizzie

Hi Lizzie,
Welcome to the user forum!
A complete comparison of features is listed here: (http://www.cognitone.com/products/comparison/page.stml)
For most Pop/Rock/Songwriting and EDM, Express will be fine. If you're heading towards orchestral music, or venture into exploring new musical styles, you might want to go Pro. If you are not sure yet, you can start with Express and upgrade later.

Hi Andre,
Thank you for replying. This is a really great program you've created. I've been going through the manual looking for the Pro Only items and have a question about Phrase Pools.
If I understand it correctly, only the Pro version allows you to save phrases from your figures? So if I wanted to take a midi file I downloaded and save parts of it to a library, I would need Pro? I really like the idea of having a library of phrases available.
I also haven't been able to figure out what the Chromatic parameter is that is only available in Pro. The manual talks about chromatic in multiple places, but they tend to refer to harmony. And there is not the usual "This is available only in the Pro version" - is it the +/- on figures?
Other than these two things, I think I would be okay with Express - at least to start.
Thanks for your help!
Lizzie

No worries, phrase libraries are fully supported with Express now.
The user manual is not quite up to date.

Great! Thank you so much! I think I will start with the Express version.
