Synfire 2.3.6
This update fixes an issue with custom fonts that had not been uniquely identified and thus could conflict with existing fonts already installed by the user. This mainly affects Windows PCs. Macs are less prone to font issues.
If you can deal with broken red Pause backgrounds and are otherwise happy with 2.3.5 you can skip this version until more significant fixes pile up in future builds.
Feature Enhancements:
- Library: Ability to re-run figure recognition on all phrases of a pool
- Library: Ability to scale tempo of folder or pool by 2 or 1/2
Resolved Bugs:
- Renamed custom fonts to avoid conflict with system fonts
- Pause background was sometimes rendered wrong
- Library: Renaming a pool or folder did not mark library as dirty
- Scaling tempo of an arrangement was broken
Other Changes:
- Improved parameter explanation labels

I ran the latest update and got this error message
I couldn’t submit a crash report as Synfire no longer runs but here is the emergency log.
Message not understood: #locationSetup
(stack trace modev to database)
I tried reinstalling the previous version but got the same error message. I deleted all traces of Synfire from my computer and ran the installer again only to get the same error message.
I did press continue and after some while got this message:-
So it seems I can no longer run Synfire on my computer!!
Help please!!!!!!!

Help is on the way.
Are you sure you are installing 2.3.6b2 ?
This crash indicates a corrupted font. The installer was unable to update fonts because Synfire was still running. You can delete the fonts yourself and reinstall Synfire. Here's which fonts to delete:
- C:\Program Files\Cognitone\Synfire\System\Fonts
- C:\Windows\Fonts\Synfire
Use the Fonts control panel to delete all Synfire fonts and Font Awesome fonts.

Oh, and make absolutely sure that Synfire is not running anymore when you install. Also check TaskManager.

Thanks for the prompt reply.
I am installing 2.3.6b2.
I checked Task Manager and Synfire is not running.
I had already deleted the fonts in
C:\Program Files\Cognitone\Synfire\System\Fonts
However I cannot delete the synfire fonts in C:\Windows\Fonts\Synfire ???

The Windows font control panel is horrible. Sometimes a font can't be removed. Will check if there is a workaround.

Open this folder in your downloaded files:
Go inside and select all fonts and do right-click 'Install font for all users' (or similar). That should replace the broken fonts.
Be sure you have extracted the downloaded zip file. Dont run SETUP.exe from Windows explorer without first extracting the entire zip.

Meanwhile I discovered that whilst I couldn't delete the font folder, I could move it, so I did and then reinstalled Synfire !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Many thanks again for your prompt help
Don't you Just love computers!!!!!!
All the best

We have uploaded a new installer for Windows that deals with font issues more robustly, especially when upgrading from Sparks or Express to Pro.
If you experience these issues, simply re-download your installation files and install those.
