Additional structure marker tracks with text and color

Posted

In this example setup of an arrangement with question answer chord progression. ( does it sound right ?)
- How the question and answer sound as a chord progression can be heard in the inactive containers ( make them active )
(Now chords of the arrangement sections can be heard through the root container).
It is difficult to keep an overview of the composition
bar 13-25: intro
bar 25-27: pause
measure 35-36 : break
measure 44-45 break

In the buildup section, the question and answer chord progression are stretched.

If I would choose a structure marker location, I would like to place it directly under the root container (all possible container input comes below).
Best would be to be able to put multiple marker tracks below each other with text and color.
I want to add all kinds of information to keep track of what I am doing
Don't understand why this hasn't been done before for Synfire ?

cant you just create continainers called intro, pause, break, break2 (or make this an alias of break if they are the same)? You can change the colour of the containers too. No need, in my opinion, to take up extra screen space on having the same information displayed in a different format. Maybe I've miss interpreted what you are describing, perhaps a mock up diagram would help?

Thanks, I just want to get rid of containers for too much information and handling
I just want to be able to add in Synfire myself an info track (stripes) with colour and text under the root container and between the placed containers
P = pause
C =chords
etc: text, coloring , bar defintion
Sits not in the the way of the Synfire GUI, because i can add these info lines as option
Its really simple, but i can setup better a orchestral template and add notations to it what i want to do ( the idea)

Don't forget as well as naming and colouring containers there are also cue markers although these have an absolute time so might not be of use if you keep changing the tempo: (https://docs.cognitone.com/synfire/EN/parameters/Time.html)
I still can't quite understand why coloured named containers won't do what you want, but hopefully others know what you are after without the aid of a diagram to explain it.

That's hard for you to imagine if you're not into orchestral compositions.
Perhaps Cognitone sees the importance ?
Synfire would be suitable for orchestral composing, but have my doubts about it.

I am going to try further to use a container row to represent the arrangement structure in more detail

Had done this in the past containers naming, but it was still not to my liking.

Synfire chrashes when i try to divide a chord container.in two parts  ( question-answer progression)

Start over and now there is no dividing possible any more for any container as it seems?

@janamdo if you just need for visual overview multiple markers for structures, why dont you just use containers as elements? You mat use empty containers for structure only, which you then populate with subcontainers holding content.

Yes, i know the container handling
Indicating a structure with containers, where there is a break for example, and where chords occur in the arrangement is something you have to find out with trial and error, what works for you.
In any case keep it as simple as possible

Ideally, I would like to stop using containers to indicate the main structure of a composite.
It is an extra container layer that is dynamic and is a burden on Synfire and prone to errors ( shifting and divide ( divide gave an error )

More convenient is an optional static input line separate from the container structure, which can be divided into sizes, color, add text
On this a pause, and chord operation can be indicated ( watching a long chord progression in synfire to figure out what the operation , over and over again is not convenient )

Trying to translate a template setup from Cubase into Synfire which I just started.
Looks promising yet :) : the previous two template setups, I got stuck with those because it got complicated and lost the overview.
I try to keep it as simple as possible.

Seemed so promising, this template , but between container A(answer) and container Q(question) there should be no sound.
How to correct this ?

Note: the green harmony parameter lines do not seem to connect exactly on a whole measure?
