Iv'e been using the HN2 software for 4 years now on and off...I can't beleive that I'm just not able to export a single progression correctly from the notepad or progression window in simple midi format !
I've done it countless times and now it's just not working...I got it to work earlier this week and now I just can't anymore.
I had no problem before I installed the latest version on my PC (used to work on Mac)
All I get is the bass wich is turned off !!!! Drives me nuts...
Should be as a simple as file-export-midi and nothing else...
The export window always pops BEHIND the palette how do I make the software to go in background and not always on top ?
The search engine in the forum, the -Show only in topic - option never works for me is this normal ??
The software also becomes sluggish after a minute or two. Feels like latency issue using my mouse only to click on chords. What setting should I be playing with here ?
I have i7 3.9 Quadcore with 16Mb RAM on Win7 and my platform (Reaper) is extremely stable with tons of plugins (Using one instance of Superior Drummer it uses 1% of my ressources as an exemple)
In the export window I tried all the options: Single track-simultaneous-single track pattern...Program change Reset controllers...etc and of course chords...all on and all off on both notepad and progression window.
Also in the basis accompaniment I set it to plain chord for export ...
It's all setup to work in Reaper and i can record chords in there no problem.
I tried to turn off midi sending in loopbe1 and use Internal GM Synth it did'nt work.
When importing chords also, I select use static pitch to prevent them to be changed the first chord is ok but the second one is changed how can I prevent this ?

Hi Boone,
If you want to export plain chords, be sure you select Chords-Only mode from the Playback menu (not the basis sketch which is for the particular song only. Palettes are global, not associated with a song) and enable bass there too (if you want to export it). Otherwise make sure you have the sketch selected that you want to export.
The palette window on Windows opens as a panel sometimes, which makes it stay on top of all other windows. You can make it a normal window with View -> Window as Panel.
Do you experience performance issues with a sketch, or with chords-only playback? Your machine is powerful enough. There must be a different reason.
Static import does not change anything. You probably mean the harmony progression that is generated? This information is not in the midi file. HN2 must guess it from all the notes. As the word suggests, it is only a guess. but a much better guess than any other software can currently make.
The advanced search for "Forum topic" type content works fine here. Maybe I got your question wrong.

This is not working.I have only one window opened one palette and that's all.
Playback=Chords only mode
I Put the Bass on (checked) and export. I get one file that is totally empty when imported in Reaper.
I put the bass on and check plain chords for export with Chords only mode uncheked, same result, one empty midi track.
Then I take the bass off (unchecked) and check Plain chords for export. Now when importing midi Reaper is asking to expand or collapsed 2 midi track, I chose expand and get 2 midi tracks. One with nothing and the other one with the bass.
Is it possible that the bass is turned off to export but on to listen when checked ?
And suddenly now when I click on any menu on my second screen, (File,Edit,Layout,Coloring.etc) the context menu opens up on the first screen.
And this is all after reinstalling the software.

What chords are in the palette notepad?
What sounds do you have selected for "Chords" and "Bass" global instruments?

All the chords are random really I'm just trying to export anyway possible. Something like C-D-E-F (very artistic !!)
Changed the sound of the palette to synthstrings it was on piano (default)
Bass is on default (accoustic bass). Tried exporting again did'nt work.
I don't play around much with the software only basic chords,instrument window a little harmonisation with an imported melody...it's pretty much everything on default.
I have a workaround, I record in Reaper via Loopbe1 while playing the chord sequence. So obviously midi is being sent why I can't export ?? maybe something to do with loopbe1 ?

This is strange. Could not reproduce the error here.
Did you try opening the midi file with another software? Is it really empty? Have you muted instruments? Soloed them?

If it worked before, you may have modified or replaced some system files by accident.
Please open you personal documents directory, look into 'Harmony Navigator 2', then look into 'Config' and check if there are any files that you did not save there.
Changed system files are saved there to protect the originals. Suspicious files are in 'Patterns' and 'Interpretation'. If you delete these files, HN2 will load the originals from 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Cognitone\Harmony Navigator 2\Config'
The sketch 'Plain Chords For Export' should not be modified.

Uninstalling and reinstalling the software wont do the trick ?
I uninstalled and deleted the HN2 folder in my documents.
Downloaded the HN2 installer and reinstalled for the third time.
It is now WORKING !
Should'nt the files in my document be deleted as well when uninstalling?
It's probably what made it work the third time.

Now the context menus still open on my first screen when HN2 is in my second screen anyway to change that ?
Also tried the advanced search in the forum with both Explorer and Firefox it just does'nt work for me...
I click on Search-Advance search- In containing any of the words: I type 'palette' for exemple- Check the Forum topic button- than click on Advance search-
I do get the results for palette but not in topics just regular search.
