cant get daw hosted cognitone drone to load vst anymore

anyone experience this?

when i insert a drone the press the load button, nothing happens - usually i get my vsti listing and i can choose omnisphere or whatever but right now nothing comes up. running win 8 64bit both in reaper and digital performer

any advice appreciated - p
