How to get a chromatic scale.

Posted

I like to have a chromatic scale horizontal and vertical in the phrase editor
Is this possible ?

I didnt check but IF its not available. You may have to build it first in the catalog, then choose it in the palette. Then change interpretation Strategy to NONE. Then it should be there lol.

Thanks, turning off that interpretation strategy that is no longer necessary then?

Well you would have to choose the Chromatic Scale as the Reference scale FIRST, then you change strategy to NONE and it will strictly play the notes in the chromatic scale.

Want to use it to use keyswitches that play a particular part of the keyboard.
Easier would be possible to use a static track for some chording background instruments to reach the keyswitches.
Get tricky with a saxophone actively playing itself instead of a passive background track .
For the saxofoon i can try to use the chromatic scale ?, but further thinking about this: it are articulations , so no need for a chromatic scale then luckily.

Was working on orchestral libraries and articulations and then its possible to use an ordinary instrument with articulations I also thought about it.

Only there are also instruments with chords to play, but serve more as a background track.
Those mididata of the chords would then have to be recorded in Synfire, but grabbing them by hand is problematic, but the only way

Should Synfire use triggerpads like in Halion 6, makes that sense ?

Translating chord mididata via import makes no sense because of the musical Ai making adjustment in the mididata and the original chord no longer works.
Concerns instruments in Halion 6

If you are struggling to setup key switches, this is the section in the manual that describes the process. You define articulations and link them to the required key switches. Then you just assign the articulation to the figures you want them to apply to.
https://docs.cognitone.com/synfire/EN/interface/DialogCustomArticulations.html

Alternatively create a second 'track' with the same instrument but set that tracks sequence as static, you can then just draw the key switch notes in as static notes.

I think the first way is better, it may take longer to setup the first time but then actually using the sound's articulations in future tunes is simple. The first option also has the advantage that figures dragged to a library will include articulations. If used in with a different instrument as long as that new instrument supports those articulations, synfire will 'play' the required key switch notes even if they are different.

Thanks, yes have now mastered the articulation system of Synfire and the video is a valuable help otherwise you won't get there.

Indeed to use a library is also my preference, because the articulations are possible to use further ( maybe with a small adjustment again )

It is a bit of work the input manually of articulations, but if you can find a ready-made expression map of your library and load it into Synfire you are ready in no time.
I have also done for Albion One for example.
I will have to make a few more templates manually....
