New song work in progress

Posted

Working on a song for a compilation album, haven't got very far with it as I'm waiting for some vocalists to be available, in the meantime I've used a vocal synth or two. It's just a bunch of ideas thrown together to see what works and is very much incomplete but thought people might be intestested in a before and after kind of thing.
Everything is a mixture of some stuff I've got in libraries and stuff I've played in. The song ideas come from childhood memories, ever since getting into electro stuff I've wanted to make this song, with synfire, I now think I can.

All notes and drums come from synfire driving ableton live using massive, a live drum rack and an access virus. All the modulation, which isn't much yet is generated via synfire. Only the vocals are samples in live.

A very 'punchy sound'.  I like it,, The fuzz riff holds it together.  I liked the pacing of things changing.  Some vocals (whether human or vocodered, could add another 'gluing element'..

very good, doesn't sound far away from being completed. Anxious to hear the finished version

Ok spent some more time on this tonight, still waiting on some vocals to be sent grrrrrrrrr

Still a bit to do, a bit repeatitive at the moment but waiting to see what it sounds like with vocals plus going to add some pitch up effects with cut up vocals, a lot of risers and fallers. Might do some more work on the bass modulations. Currently all modulations are in synfire.

Only things done in ableton live apart from hosting the vsts is sidechain compression on the basses and pad.

hope it sounds better to you? love some feedback good and bad... oh and for some reason, soundcloud seems to have upset the center point in the panning and given it a left sided bias... Maybe thats a bug in their brand new 'wheres the drop' feature, implemented today (monday 1st).

I'm assuming the "here's the Drop" feature is a temporary thing ;)

Edit: Having started in a very electronic style the piano at 0.15 sounds too natural to me. Something more sinister perhaps?

Hi all

Blacksun,in my opinion the small riff of the guitar sounds very dry,and the other that sounds in the 3:31 minutes also.

I would add them a ping-pong delay(or simple delay with auto pan) and reverb to add more movement and depth

The bass is a classical actual dubstep sound,is good and as you say in the description is necessary to add risers and sweeps to add more emotion to the song.

Is a song electro-dubstep very very commercial, great to sell more but i prefer much more your side less commercial, more sinister that you showed  in your previous songs.

It is obvious that the composition will grow with the real sound of a voice

Hopefully, you find the singer

Regards  :D
