Plugins that will or won't properly extract

Posted

Hi,

I think it would be useful to know about various plugins as to whether it is possible to extract patches into a device description or not.

Here is what I've found so far, with Synfire 2 Express (2.3.7)  -

Working extracts:

Korg M1

Korg WS

Waldorf Largo (but no bank select - it must be done in the plugin)

Failed extracts:

Korg Mono/Poly

Korg Triton (I could see patches being selected, but names were not returned!)

Korg Triton Extreme (I could see patches being selected, but names were not returned!)

Arturia Analog Lab V  (VST2, VST3)

Roli Equator 2

Arturia B3 V2

Cherry Audio PS-20  (I could see patches being selected, but names were not returned!)

I would welcome the experience of others here, as it is a waste for people to pursue that which isn't going to work.

Possibly of interest to someone -

Here is how I was able to extract from the Korg M1 plugin, on a card-by-card basis.

I also note that I tried the 'Korg MS-20 (VST)' description from the repository.

Unf. for some reason, my  Korg MS-20 plugin does not change patches when I select different patch names in that device.   Too bad, because it looks like a good list.

Nor could I build my own MS-20 patch list.  It seems the plugin doesn't connect/respond to Synfire.

It makes me wonder how bmanpro created that list in the first place!  (?)

Extraction worked fine with Mono/Poly and Polysix version 1.7.

Only after v2 they no longer respond. We contacted Korg developers. It is now up to them. Maybe it helps if you also request to restore the old bank selection and program selection behavior.
