Polytonality/Layer feature "forgets" to change minor to major chord (intended behaviour)

Posted

Subtriad layers don't respect edits that change the "Tongeschlecht" of the base chord.

Tested with Synfire Pro 3.0.6 build #1 on MacOS.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Create a new arrangement - outcome: an empty arrangement is created
  • Snapshot harmony - outcome: a progression consisting merely of C major chords is created
  • Select first chord, change it to e minor - outcome: the progression now starts with an e minor chord
  • From menu "Transform" select Layer -> Add next Subtriad - outcome: a subtriad layer starting with an e minor chord is created
  • Change the first chord back to C major - outcome: the subtriad layer contains a c minor chord while the base progression contains C major.

I consider this behaviour a bug in the program logic.

Seems the observed behaviour is intended to be that way and not an error.

So I'll keep my eyes peeled when using subtriads layers and changing the chord in the base progression.

Thanks for the helpful insight.
