Wondering which is the best way to go about this:
Just say I had a simple progression C Am F G, but want like a little ornament (1 measure) to play the same notes of it's C rendering through the changes. Is it better to extract it to take, make it static and just copy it for the 4 measures, or to freeze it. Freeze doesn't seem to work like that, still interprets the notes into the harmonic context of each change. Maybe I'm using it wrong. Thanks.

Freeze will freeze what you currently have, including the changes.
If you want to keep it playing C, you could temporarily insert just the C chord for Harmony and freeze that. Then restore the progression.
Or, if it makes sense to group the figure into a single segment, you could tag that segment as "Hold". This will ignore chord changes throughout the length of the segment (and only for that segment).
