I have cubase 5.5.1 for mac os 10.6.4. I have the updated HN2. I have an evolution midi controller keyboard and many VST plug ins including real guitar komplete 5 and Quantum Leap play
I would like to set up HN so I can send chords from HN in the Palette which play the VST plug in (say realguitar) in Cubase and at the same time record the chord progresion in a midi track so the play back triggers the plug in. Is this possible and if so, how is this done. I have looked at the manual and it says you can do it but does not say how in any detail.
Please could any one help with letting me know how this is routed
thanks

Hi Monty,
you can make the palette send MIDI to a Cubase track via the IAC driver. For example, use "IAC Bus 1":
1. Make a Cubase track listen to "IAC Bus 1"
2. Arm the track for recording
3. Create a HN2 device, e.g. "Real Guitar", connect it to "IAC Bus 1" and add a sound on channel 1 that represents your preset
4. Select this sound as the global generic instrument of HN2
Now when you play the palette, you should hear your Cubase track playing.
HN2 can not synch its transport with a DAW, so it might be better to edit your progression in HN2 and export the MIDI file when done.
In Cubase, do you need the plain chords, or a rendered phrase?
