Taking over the playing range of an instrument ?

Posted

Wouldn't it be very easy if I press two piano keys in the vsti and this range is taken over in Synfire? ( using a record function ? )
Should also be stored in the device description
Succeed now not to take over the range of the Vsti keyboard exactly and it is laborious.

It looks like a knack, that setting of the keyboardrange, but now when I set a keyboard range of an instrument as a preset in Synfire created it is not remembered when I use the preset again in the arrangement.

Note: i saved the arrangement first after chancing the playrange

There is no separate button to save the new playrange when you are in the device editor and set the new playrange.

Further the startup screen when you pull a rack module sound into the arrangement and ports are created shows a playing range keyboard: what function does this keyboard have if you can't do anything with it ?

Once the correct playingrange is set via the device editor and saved and you go back to the sound in the arrangement, the keyboard shows no updated playing range ?

I am in trouble how to get for the brass-(high,mid,low) legato playregisters ?

As example the Brass High Legato
If i can get the middle line in Synfire on c4 , then there is room to add symbols under and up
But it seems to be not possible...no because the c3 has a fixed position on the middle line

To extend a grid with horizontal lines upward to show c4 and c5 octaves
Also extending the grid lines down to c1 octave would allow symbol input.
This would be an easy solution ?

Hope this helps:

when I set a keyboard range of an instrument as a preset in Synfire created it is not remembered when I use the preset again in the arrangement

When saving the preset, check the box "Save Current Instrument Properties"

The ranges shown on the Structure page belong to the instrument. The ranges shown in the device editor belong to the sound. If you edit the sound, the instrument will not update unless you reassign the sound.

will not update unless you reassign the sound.

I am in now the decvice descirption page and changed the playing range for a sound

Notice: seems to be blue template i am using now for the rack, but i can later on chance to a white color template?

Updating this sound by reassigning from this device description screen, but how ?

No, fail to get the brass high legato sound at c4 so that it ends up on the middle line in the phrase editor.
Setting the play ranges does not work easily with the mouse dragging also and saving , in short user unfriendly and useless

Wouldn't it be much easier that yourself could set the position of the centerline in the phrase editor and around it set the playing range.
A user middle line setting with an easy save
Then the whole problem of the octave range would be solved.
