This works from a library window only. Only the library can edit phrase pools. The arrangement can not.

Jan there is an old video that shows how to import a song from midi, then drag the bits you want into a library, then go through those and select the phrases you want to keep in the library.

Its using an older version but does explain it quite well.

Its also possible to import directly into a library and have synfire slice up the tracks into useful phrases although Ive found you get better results if you do it yourself. I guess this is what you are trying (but without the library).

Thanks
This can be a source of confusing.. it should be better is this option is not showing up (userfriendly) under the conditions when someone import a midifile in this arrangement screen.
I got the impression that there was no conditions fulfilled by me , that is why i thought i could not create a phrase pool

-----------------------------

The manual: Create Phrase Pools: ( only available when importing a library) creates a phrase pool for each instrument --> This text did not help me to understand it ..only available when importing a library.. for me it says nothing

Only available when import a midi file in the library (screen) ..now i know what is going on here.
Again more userfriendly the manual and must guide someone.

Hi Blacksun

I have looked for a video, but did not find it under named "phrase pool"  or giving direction how to handle the phrase pool
Better results (musical poolphrases) by doing itself, that is musical interesting..thanks

It is a basic handling: a phrase pool from a imported Midi file --> i think this must be better streamlined in the GUI of Synfire.
Midi files are a a source of building up phrases for a arrangement, or recording  phrases  as source for a arrangement.
