MidiDrone -Where did pitch shift come from? Bug?

Posted

My project has lots and lots of MIDI Drones.

Sometimes, seemingly at random (never at the same place) I get a pitch shift in one of my soft-synths (DAW) controlled by the MIDI Drone. It happens usually during some combination of playing notes into Synfire with the keyboard during playback. I totally don't get it and I can't figure out what parameter is being changed on the VST-synth. It seems to happen on more than one type of synth / sampler.

I don't have any vector data for any of the controllers, mods, or anything... and as I said, it never happens at the same place. It seems to be random.

Anybody else using MIDI Drones and have this problem?

Okay well this problem continues to happen on Ableton Live instruments as well as VSTs. Its definitely coming from Synfire. When I look at the parameters of the affected Live or VST instruments, nothing has changed, and yet the pitch/tuning is altered.

Can anyone recommend an easy way to be able to see and log the MIDI data coming from the MIDI Drones so that I can try and trace this stray CC message?

There's no logging of MIDI data going to the Drone, unless you use some MIDI analyzer or something to display things happening at the DAW end.

Maybe you have some CC running around MIDI Through from your master keyboard or other device?

Hey, I think you're right. Its more than likely coming from my controller.

Every once in a while Synfire happens to play some fragment of music to me, entirely out of a sudden, while I'm doing completely different things. I still have no idea why. I hope it doesn't develop too much AI out of itself ...
