Software Version: Synfire 1.8.5 build 5
OS: Windows 10
Bug: Unlogical behavior
Reproduce-ability: 100%
Reproduction steps
- Start new Arrangement
- Select any tool from the pallet (e.g. "Segment tool")
- Double click the default parameter label to enter "phrase editor"
- In the "phrase editor" the same tool is selected in the pallet, but the mouse shows the "Span tool" and behaves like the "Span tool"
- You need to select the selected tool again

Synfire remembers the tool selection for each window and parameter individually. If you switch to a different parameter, or open another editor, it will recall the tool last used there.
If tool selection was global, switching back and forth between tools on each focus change would be very cumbersome.

I agree with you Andre, but what I have found is this:
1. Open phrase editor
2. Select (e.g.) segment tool
3. Close phrase editor
4. Open phrase editor again
The segment tool is still highlighted but the span tool is in use

Not what I experience. The correct tool button is selected (from last time the window was open), however the mouse curser shows span tool and behaves like that. So, there is a discrepamy between the selected mode and what the mouse shows.
Unfortunately all attempts to create a screen shot failed, as the cursor was never captured.

Yes, exactly. There is a discrepency between selected mode and what mode is actually active.

It's easy to reproduce but here's a GIF anyway.
